Mediterranean climate

Portorož is set in an attractive and peaceful location in the Bay of Piran, sheltered against the northern winds by a garland of small hills, scattered with olive groves, hidden Istrian villages and vineyards. It boasts mild Mediterranean climate with a large number of sunny days and gentle passages between the seasons. The mild seaside climate has a beneficial effect on the people's psychophysical condition.

Clean air, rich in sea minerals, mildly circulates through the atmosphere. On the seashore, especially when strolling through the salt pans, we partake of natural aerosol, which contains sodium, chlorine, iodine, bromine, magnesium, silicon and ozone, and is brought from the sea by the south winds. The natural aerosol of the seashore is mixed by the north wind (burja) with the essential oils of the coniferous trees combining thus the medicinal effects of both. According to the International Association for Balneology the air in Portorož is pure and healthy. The climate in this region is ideal for soothing and healing chronic conditions of the respiratory system as well as for relaxation all the year round.
